Map design + dialogue system update + other small things
Hello!
Here is another update on my 8-bit project (haven´t got a clue on the games name yet).
-----The level design and gameplay-----
There will be 5 islands with 4 of them having mini bosses that you have to defeat to move on to the next island, until you reach the fifth which will have the main villain and the final boss battle.
NOTE: The island on the picture is just a small test island to see how it looks!
There will be sidequests to these islands that is optional(not relevant to the main storyline), but can give you things like maps for dungeons that have treasure in them. you can get these maps by talking to npc´s and doing favours for them, again, it´s optional but recommended, cause with the treasure you can buy stuff in shops to help you along the way such as health potions.
When you´ve gone to another island you can always come back to the previous ones to complete the sidequests and explore the dungeons.
That is all for the gameplay and design so far.
-----Update on the dialogue system-----
I have been working to improve the system alot, so far you have the ability to fast forward the text to the end, i´ve added a small green arrow at the bottom of the text box to show when you can continue.
I will add quest text boxes that has an accept and decline button.
The dialogue boxes font is improved aswell.
-----Other small things i´ve added-----
*A slime that deals 2 hearts of damage but moves slower (the wasp deals 1 heart of damage but is quicker)
*Gold and a counter to show how much gold you have.
*Enemies faces left and right depending on where you are.
-----Features coming in the near future-----
*Quest text boxes
*More enemies of course
*A shop
*Some small demo quests
*Quest Journal
*A slightly bigger demo island
*A demo to show how the quests work and for the player to get a feel for the gameplay (The demos i upload will be free, though i haven´t decided on the finished products price yet)
